In 1975, Sis. Mary Lazenby qualified as a Day Care Director. Shewent to Pastor I.H. Terry with the idea of starting a Day Care to help with the Bethel Apostolic Academy school expenses.
Bro. Terry agreed giving Bro. and Sis. Lazenby $100.00 and two school rooms to begin. Today, the same two rooms are still being used for Kiddie Korral on the south end of the Day Care. The Lazenbys began by purchasing pressed wood to build tworound tables and cabinets and chairs were borrowed from the Sunday School. Members of GBFPC built playground equipment and the Day Care was ready to be named. Originally, the name was going to be Kiddie College but another local Day Care had just started with that name. Bro. Terry had a corral on what is now the church parking lot with turkeys, chickens, goats, etc., and so it seemed fitting that the Day Care be named Kiddie Korral. Sis. Mary obtained a donkey from the Bureau of Land Management to go along with the host of other animals. The donkey, known as “Old Dan,” became very tame and was a popular attraction drawing the attention of children and teachers from other day cares.
For the first few days of operation, Sis. Mary Lazenby was the director, teacher, and cook. She was the director until 1981. Others since that time have fulfilled the role of Day Care Director: Sis. Deans, Juanita Newman, Sis. Lois Frost, Sis. Sue Mercer and Sis. Shelly Bradley is the current director.
The daycare has seen several renovations and in 2002 the playground equipment was replaced with up to date toys and surfacing.
