With a talented and committed group of musicians and singers, we select songs that “work.” The worship service is not a concert! It is to draw those who have gathered into the presence of God. Therefore, our song selection centers on both new and old songs that achieves our stated goal. We avoid the trap of getting “time locked”, and we avoid the trap of getting “time blind.” We incorporate new songs, old songs, different styles and genres of songs, based on the principle that the song must encourage people to worship God. It must work. If it doesn’t, we avoid it or find a proper context for it. We do not take this matter lightly, as failing here results in drawing worshippers away from God instead of to God.
