Ps 95:1-2
1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD : let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Ps 96:1-2
1 O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth.
2 Sing unto the LORD , bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.

Ps 104:33
3 I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

With a talented and committed group of musicians and singers, we select songs that “work.” The worship service is not a concert! It is to draw those who have gathered into the presence of God. Therefore, our song selection centers on both new and old songs that achieves our stated goal. We avoid the trap of getting “time locked”, and we avoid the trap of getting “time blind.” We incorporate new songs, old songs, different styles and genres of songs, based on the principle that the song must encourage people to worship God. It must work. If it doesn’t, we avoid it or find a proper context for it. We do not take this matter lightly, as failing here results in drawing worshippers away from God instead of to God.

Children are a precious commodity and enrich our lives. Kids In Christ’s Kingdom sing once a month songs that reflect their zest and zeal for life.

Young people produce a vitality and energy that makes everyone want to run with the “kids”. The youth choir rotates with the adult choir every week (Sunday nights), and some members of the youth choir also form a youth chorale utilized several times a month. The choir initiates summer choir tours, community outreach opportunities, and a training ground for developing voices and musicians.

The Adult choir sings every other Sunday night and is the anchor for all the choirs. On occasion the youth choir joins the adult choir for a “Mass” choir. The goal of the choir is to provide uplifting songs through accomplished musicianship, with the goal of seeking after God in such a way so as to “draw” worshippers into the realm of God’s anointing. The adult choir has been the longest running choir at GBFPC, and is most beneficial to the life of the church.

The Senior choir is comprised of long standing, respected, and faithful members of GBFPC, as well as others who enjoy introducing “older” songs to “new” generations. This accomplishes several purposes. First, it gives the church the opportunity to appreciate spiritual warriors. Secondly, it incorporates tried and true songs that have stood the test of time.

These special groups sing once or twice a month and represent different genres and styles of music. They are important, as they provide flow to the service, as well as introduce the congregation to different approaches to music.
